We used 304 stainless steel for the auger, housing, and locking ring, we gave it a powerful commercial-grade motor and adjusted the auger to allow it to work with commercial plates and knives to give you the best, grind possible from a home grinder. The 10.6 lb a minute grinding speed is conservative and can easily be exceeded at home under the right conditions. Can a food processor grind meat? By using a food processor you will quickly lose particle definition in the meat and you will overstress the proteins. There is a reason we recommend that you grind your meat twice, the first grind should be through a large 3/8” plate to prevent the fats in the meat from smearing.
